Bids were opened this afternoon (Thursday) on the proposed McLeod County Jail expansion and security project, and appear to be well under estimated costs.
The County Board had been looking at a budget of about $7.99 million for the project. John McNamara of Wold Architecture said that unofficial tally is around $5.4 million, but added that Contegrity Group, the construction manager, will be compiling bids, doing some verification.
