Glencoe City Council approved the application for a Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) demolition loan to tear down the former Mark’s Economart building and the reclamation of the property for future development.
At the Jan. 21 Glencoe City Council meeting, David Nelson, president of the Glencoe Area Chamber of Commerce, said the chamber’s Economic Development Committee (EDC) recommends the city pursue the loan program.
Nelson said the loan application would include about $100,000 in demolition costs and another $20,000 for the parking lot excavation.
