April 18 open house planned for county’s proposed cement stabilization road projects

McLeod County is currently planning construction projects on County Road 54 (Tagus Avenue) from Sunset Circle to County Road 7 and County Road 62 (Nature Avenue and 125th Street).
The projects include blending cement powder and water with portions of the existing gravel surface and subgrade material to create a hardened base layer. Once the base is stabilized with cement, the road will then be covered with a chip seal similar to what is applied on paved asphalt roads. The purpose of the chip seal is to protect the stabilized base from weather and to act as a wear surface.
