A two-truck crash Wednesday afternoon, July 23, claimed the life of one driver, Ryan M. Sturges, 23, of Glencoe, and closed a portion of Highway 7 to traffic for hours. The crash occurred at 4:56 p.m. about three miles west of Silver Lake.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2012 International semi, driven by Jerry L. Ball, 33, of Lake Crystal, was eastbound on Highway 7, slowing down to make a turn into a business lot, when a 1997 Chevrolet GMT-400 driven by Sturges rear-ended the semi.
Sturges was killed in the collision, and Ball was not injured, the State Patrol stated.
